Who I am
I'm Samuel Ryan Andrew Simonds, a technical support engineer in Colorado Springs who also builds full stack web applications. I came to software from the service side of technology. I spent more than four years at Apple, starting as a Specialist in 2021 and growing into Technical Specialist and then Technical Expert, diagnosing hardware and software problems and explaining them to people who simply needed their device to work again.
Since I've been a Technical Support Engineer at eCatholic, where I own hardware configuration and escalations for the live streaming product. I build tools there too, including configuration software that turned a 30-minute device setup into a 10-minute workflow. Every job has taught me the same lesson: a system is only as good as the experience of the person using it.
To bridge people and technology through innovative and collaborative solutions that drive business success.
What I bring
- End-to-end delivery. I've taken projects from design all the way to deployment: PostgreSQL schemas, REST APIs, admin tools, desktop utilities and responsive front ends.
- Real troubleshooting experience. Years of diagnosing complex issues at Apple and eCatholic taught me to stay calm, isolate the problem and keep people informed while I fix it.
- Clear documentation. I write things down in detail, whether it's a repair note, release documentation ahead of a new version or a README, so the next person can pick up where I left off.
- Mentoring and training. At Apple I coached technicians and sales partners and built growth plans that fit changing business needs.
- Customer focus. I'm among the top three in support ticket volume at eCatholic with an average 95% satisfaction rating, and I learned early on to listen before I recommend anything.
Career goals
Here's where I'm headed over the next few years:
- Grow into a full-time software engineering role where I can own features from the database to the interface, building on the tools I already write for support.
- Make accessibility a default, not an afterthought, by building to WCAG standards and testing with assistive technology.
- Grow into technical leadership and use what I've learned mentoring technicians to help other developers grow.
- Keep learning, especially cloud deployment, automated testing and front end frameworks like React.
